Our Path

Well, we're back now, so instead of listing places we wanted to go, we figured we would update our blog site with where we actually went.

As it turns out, we did a pretty swell job in following our original itinerary, but we did still find ourselves in both humid and cold places. In fact, most of our trip was colder than we thought it would be.

For posterity sake, I have left our original entry below....

As we sat to plot our course, one thing became clear, Steve hates humidity, and Nicole hates the cold.  The beauty of a year long trip is we have the flexibility to align our journey with the best climates that we can find.

Through the wonders of Google Maps, we have pinned our path of travel.  While the exact spots will always remain in flux, here is our intended flow....

July '17 - Sept '17: Northern Europe (Iceland, British Isles, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Northern Germany)
Sept '17 - Nov '17: Africa (Mostly Tanzania, Botswana, South Africa)
Dec '17 - Feb '18: Australia / New Zealand
Feb '18 - Mar '18: Southeast Asia
Apr '18 - Apr '18: Japan / Korea
May '18 - Jul '18: Southern Europe

We need your help!  To make the most of our trip, we want to hear from you... If you have been anywhere we plan to visit, please give us some feedback.  Where should we go?  Where shouldn't we go?  Do you have family and/or friends somewhere?  We really want to experience the local culture, and there is no better way than to experience a place with a local.

  2. I loved the hot springs in Iceland! My family immigrated from Husavik, Iceland. I also remember my grandparents getting lost because the road signage wasn't great. :)

Cultural experiences...Rotorua - natural hot springs (local spots are free check your guide books), rugby game - go even if you don't understand the game you will see the culture and passion for the game, learn about marae meeting houses and hangis . South Island Glacier hike on Franz Josef was amazing. Bungee jumping if your crazy Fiords and even the ferry from the south to the north island is beautiful.
