Taking on the World Today

And we're off!

I'd love to say that we all bolted out the door jumping up and down and giving each other high fives.  In fact, it was quite emotional, and many tears were shed.  Having been in the business of instilling change, this is the mother of all change.  People are ready for something different when there is a clear vision, a solid plan, and most importantly, when there is dissatisfaction with the status quo.  While I think we're pretty good on the first two, our children are certainly quite satisfied with the lives we've created in Lafayette.  We're breaking every habit in one fell swoop, and it will take some time to form new ones.

But here's the thing, once we finally got to the airport (after an eventful BART ride) we can already sense our spirits lifting.

More on the eventful BART ride... As we stood patiently in line (amongst the throngs of working commuters), who wanders up?...  My high school buddy, Curt (Boom) Hodges.  He got to escort us on his way to work.  After parting ways in San Francisco, Zane started getting a little... queesy.  Just as we were about to disembark at SFO, he could hold it no longer.  So there you have it, our first travel "emergency." At least it's not an entirely rare occasion to have that happen in a BART train.

Also...Happy Birthday Zane!  We got you a trip around the world, and a fidget spinner.  Turns out Southwest wanted to celebrate his birthday as well.
